Carlyle Expands Energy Assets With $820 Million Energean Portfolio Purchase

Private-equity firm Carlyle Group CG 0.74%increase; green up pointing triangle is expanding its exploration and production assets with the acquisition of operations in Italy, Egypt and Croatia from Energean ENOG 2.13%increase; green up pointing triangle for $820 million.

The company said Thursday that the assets will form part of a standalone company, to be chaired by former BP BP 0.25%increase; green up pointing triangle Chief Executive Tony Hayward, which will also hold recently acquired assets from Neptune Energy, Assala Energy and SierraCol.
